Giveaway! Sustainable Baby

Thursday, August 20, 2009

I popped out briefly this morning with kids in tow (argh!! remind me never to do that again on my own!) and was browsing in my favourite store the ABC Shop.

I love checking what new books are out and found this little gem!
It's packed with ideas on how to save money and create less stress on the environment regarding all things baby. There are even some recipes and instructions on things to make.

After a bit of 'googling' I found the author's blog too. You can find it here. Her blog also has great ideas and 'how to's'. Go and have a look.

After browsing, I thought I would grab a copy to giveaway next week. All you have to do to enter the giveaway is leave me a comment about something you do to save money or the environment. Entries will close next Friday 28 August midday. Winner to be announced Friday afternoon!

  1. I got my book today in the post. thank you so much. Oliver has already been grabbing it from me.

I love the idea of learning how to save money when it comes to baby. I don't really have many ideas but will definitely come back to see what people have to offer.

the only thing i can think of is i buy most of oliver's clothes on sale. I check out ebay a lot.

  3. I use sorbolene cream and tissues instead of wipes at home. Make your own baby food using in season food. Cloth nappies. Always accept hand me down clothes.

    Babies are expensive!!

  4. I make my own cloth nappies whic we use. Also use cloth wipes. Bubby is still lil so only breast milk. My nephew is year and week older than my boy so we are very fortunate to get hand me downs. Also shop ebay and at op shops. My SIL was also kind enough to pass on her nursey furniture she is finished with.

    I think that is it.

  5. On our typical suburban block, we grow lots of our own yummy organic veggies, and have planted heaps of fruit trees - this saves us heaps of money on groceries and producing organic food n the backyard is a huge win for the environment!

  6. I enjoy upcycling 'abandoned' & 'forgotten' tees to make soft toys for kids or as gifts. Variations are endless and above savings, you have 'one-of-a-kind' toys or gifts!

  7. We use cloth nappies, worm farms (we have two), I try to buy secondhand clothes (I used to love this shop in Mount Lawley in Perth called Beehive - all secondhand baby and children's clothes), Make extra for dinner and take leftovers to work or eat at home next day, shop at Vinnies for old books and toys.
